Man has been given the power to think and act, unlike animals which do not have this special gift from God. Therefore proper usage of this faculty or gift is the essential and integral part of our life. The Final Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
"Allah hath not created anything better than reason, the benefits which giveth are on its account and understanding is begotten of it."
"Verily, I tell you, a man may have performed prayers, fasts, charity, pilgrimage and all other good works; but he will not be rewarded but by the manner in which he hath used and applied his reason."
The similitude of those who follow blindly and who neglect to use the intelligence which the Divine Giver of all good (Almighty Lord Allah) has bestowed upon them, is declared in the Holy Qur-an, Chapter No.52, to be that of "an ass laden with books"
The noble and learned Caliph Syedina Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), said: "Muslims believe that Islam is a term synonymous with truth and that under the glorious and ever brilliant sun of Islam, by the light of reason and knowledge, truth can be obtained; but in order to obtain that knowledge, and thus attain that truth, man must use his reasoning faculties.''
Prophet laid stress on Reason, before his death:
A few days before his decease, Prophet Muhammad Stressed the Importance of using our Reason-the personal monitor, conscience and the guide.
While being bed ridden by sickness, one of his companions questioned him: "O Prophet of Allah! Thou art ill, thou mayest die, then what is to become of us?"
"You have Al Qur-an" replied Allah's Messenger.
"Oh, Yes, Rasulullah, but even with that enlightening and unerring guide before us, we have had at times to ask from you advice, counsel and instruction and if you are taken from us, O Prophet, who is there to be our Guide?"
"Do as I did and as I have said", was the reply.
"But, O Prophet, after you have gone fresh circumstances may arise which could not have arisen during thy blessed lifetime; what are we to do then? And what are they to do who follow us?"
The Prophet exclaimed : "Allah hath given to every man as a personal monitor, a conscience and as a guide, his reason; then use them in respect of all things and Allah's Blessings will even guide you aright."
In the Holy Qur-an, Allah asks all those who do not realize the Truth about Himself, His Religion and the Prophethood of Muhammad and other factors to use their intellect or reason so that they may find the correct way to God. If a person does not think properly, can not even solve a common arithmetic problem like, 1+1/1=?
Newton was known to be a dull student in his class, but when he saw the apple falling down from the tree, he asked a question due to curiosity... "Why should the apple fall down?" The very question put him on the track to find out the answer and thus ultimately resulted in his declaration of laws of motion, now known to the world as 'Newton's Laws of Motion'.
During the time of Final Prophet Muhammad, people in Arabia used to observe peculiar practices, their beliefs were utterly absurd, life chaotic and full of pagan acts. But he never joined with them in all such activities and their beliefs. He kept away from such acts and would seek God's guidance through meditation by secluding himself and his family to the Cave Hira outside Makkah, quite often, for days. So, before Holy Qur-an was revealed to him, he was an ardent thinker. His thoughts and actions were based on God given reasoning and sense of justice and wisdom.
Now if today's muslims do not realize the importance of using the reason, then they will again become like the pagan Quraish (The Dominant Arab Tribe those days) who had lost the way of Prophet Ibrahim and Ismael (peace be upon him).
Islam is a complete and comprehensive system of life. Like the body has different parts and all are well organized under a system of God for their well being and perfect functioning, God's Religion Islam is well organized and has all the ingredients for man's success in this world and in the next permanent world.
But there are people who separate Islam from other parts of human activities such as in Governing, business, economics, education, military, foreign affairs, diplomacy and other domains of life and follow their short sighted, ill conceived ideas in opposition of God's Guidance viz. Islam. They try to isolate it from all fields of life so that it becomes weak and they can do what ever they like in the absence of any regulatory mechanism of Islam. But when Allah takes them to task for their this great evil act, they will be the losers like Pharaoh and Haman!
This Universe belongs to Allah and Allah commands us to believe Him not only as our Creator, Lord, Nourisher among other of His Holy Attributes, but also as the Giver of a System of Laws or System of Life (Complete Code of Life). Without falling in line with Allah's judgement and guidance one is only acting to be a muslim without faith and real actions required for a believer of Allah.
For example, if you join as an employee in a factory or a hospital, you will change your life style, then onwards. You will get up early in the morning (if you work at day time), wear your uniform (if any) and reach to the location of your work on time and do as the order of your immediate boss. You are taught (in a good organization), the procedures of organization you work for and will be trained on the work that you are going to do. Before joining the employment, you have given the undertaking that you will observe the rules and regulations of the company failing which you will be subject to certain penalty/action by the company.
Muslims today are lagging behind and have failed in different fields, due to the fact that they do not realize the potential of Holy Qur-an. Allah says when He wants something: "Be" and it is! So the command "KUN" or "Be" from God is sufficient even the universe to come into being. If Allah wants many universes, like the one we know now, the same command is sufficient for that to happen. But Muslims, even while having Holy Qur-an, which contains only the words of Allah numbering several thousands, if they fail to realize the Value of Allah's Holy Words, then it is a Tragedy. We can have all that by Allah's Gracious words of the Holy Qur-an. We can build the empires through Holy Qur-an.
But who is there who have tried to read it with meaning quite often and get the knowledge of Allah's view points, commands and guidance.Abdullah Ibn Umar (son of second caliph Omar)-may Allah be pleased with them, learnt the Surah Baqara in 7 years. One can imagine, how much difficulty they went through to study even a single chapter of Holy Qur-an, with meaning and Tafsir etc.
We can't have ready made answers and solutions. A Prophet will not come now. We must all come forward with the Guidance of Al Qur-an using our reasoning to solve the problems of our society and the world as a whole.
One can't solve the political problems related to muslims without actively doing what is required for that. A particular problem related to a particular field can be solved by application of God's laws related to that subject under the Guidance of Prophet's Noble Life and how the Four Rightly Guided Caliphs implemented them. Because they are the best authorities who have to be followed after Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by all the world.
They are : Syedina Abu Bakr, Omar, Uthman (Usman) and Ali -may Allah be pleased with them. Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) was pleased with them, then who can dare to be unhappy with them and their noble life style? Those who follow Prophet Mohammad and the first four caliphs are the rightly guided people and they united the people. Then who can break Islam into Shia, Sunni and other sects/divisions/parties/secularists/moderates/hardliners etc unless they want to fight the Divine Path or Way of Prophet Mohammad and followed by the rightly guided first four caliphs who were vehemently supported by lives, wealth and all the resources of the then muslim community?
We need all round activities and should not limit ourselves just to praying in the mosque and gathering in a corner, giving or listening to hours of lectures daily. This can't solve all the problems. Problems will remain, until and unless we get hold of each and every problems facing us and analyze them and find out what is the solutions to them in the light of Holy Qur-an, Holy Hadith, The Examples of the Four Caliphs and Noble Companions of the Prophet, Human intellect and reason. In this regard every muslim male and female should pass on and exchange the views and suggestions, plans and programs for the formation of a strong muslim community which can defend Islam and only by virtue of which the rights of women, children, men, laborers (workers), rulers, subjects, , prisoners, rich, poor, young and old, widows, orphans, business men, consumers, buyers, sellers and others in the society. What the world at large today believes can not hold the society together. Man is made of earth. The society is like a earthen pot holding the whole mankind (men and women). It's reached now to verge of breaking point (which we can see in many parts of the world (like Iraq) due to the implementation of alien ideas on a free people who yearn to be governed by God Almighty Allah's Laws. The failure has caused billions of dollars in loss and hundreds of thousands of human lives are lost and the number is increasing daily. Who is going to pay for it? If some one accuses you in a situation or case like this, for example, there is a human (dead) body lying on the street (seems to have either murdered or overrun by a car), if the police catch you (by mistake), are you going to accept the charges leveled against you? For sure (repeat this million or billion times) you are not going to accept the responsibility for the death of this person. Then it is beyond human comprehension that someone will accept or accepting now or ready to accept the deaths of thousands of soldiers and hundreds of thousands of civilians in Iraq or any other part of the world, due to some political blunders of anyone? If you are not ready to accept one single death, even by mistake, it makes us difficult to understand some one is capable of taking responsibility for the deaths of so many people!!! Should we say that let all the souls of these people who are dead due to miscarriage of justice and perpetration of hateful and barbaric acts appear to those responsible and then see the result? Will they stand this frightening scene? Anyhow they will come to meet them on the Day of Judgement when Allah Almighty will establish justice and ask the justice from the perpetrators of crimes against them. When your creation is not a joke, functioning of your heart, brain, kidney etc is not a joke, for fun and waste (it has a very creative and wise scheme of design and functioning brought into existance and action by Allah, the Lord of the Worlds) Allah declared when He created man that He is not doing this for fun or waste and He will surely and without fail test man (mankind) and bring them to justice / accountability on the Day of Judgement after recreating them from their death sleep. Ask a doctor/physician/surgeon/scientist how the organs function in a human body and who could have done this possible? Name the power responsible for this, if you are true to yourself? Is it not Allah, that should be your instant answer?

Basic things to note to solve problems:
You can't repair a bicycle if you don't know what parts it contains and what is the real problem and it's solution. A gents tailor can't stitch a woman's dress to the desired design without having proper expertise of it. A car driver can't fly an aero plane. Society prepares, by means of education and training, experience etc. such people who perform different activities in these and other fields. We muslims must prepare our younger generations to meet all the challenges through the Guidance of Holy Qur-an, Noble Traditions of the Prophet, Four Caliphs of Islam and the Companions of the Prophet.
Holy Qur-an must be given utmost priority and all gatherings of Muslims must start and end with the recital and seeking of God's message and guidance given to us. But today, one can see, those who say they work as Islamic Missionaries carrying what they call Hadith Book which has replaced the Holy Qur-an. One can't miss to notice this. They read Holy Qur-an in Arabic and just rely on amount of virtues they have scored by the recital. God's true purpose in giving the world and the mankind is to guide. How can you be guided if you read it without knowing the meaning of a single word. How can a student become a doctor or an engineer without understanding anything of his subject? Qur-an must be given the top priority and the Companions of the Prophet relied only on this Book as there was no other book which they referred to. What they had heard from the Prophet and seen him doing was also fresh in their memories.
God aims at turning the raw human life into a blissful one by the effect of His Glorious words. Didn't you read about the Jinns or Genies (in Surah Jinn) who heard and understood the message through the recital of Holy Qur-an by Prophet Muhammad and became muslims. Hadn't they understood the meaning, they would have thought it to be the singing of some song, like some ignorant say when they hear the recital of Holy Qur-an (because they can't understand the meaning, so it sounds to them like singing of a song).
Knowing Mohammad-The Final Prophet of God for all mankind (peace be upon him):
"Muhammad is no more than a Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. If he died or were slain, will ye then turn back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah; But Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve Him) with gratitude." (3:144).
"He who obeys the Messenger (or Prophet Muhammad), obeys Allah: but if any turn away, We have not sent you to watch over them." (4:80)
Prophet Muhammad served Allah in different ways. He prayed, fasted, married, did justice to the people while solving their disputes and dealing with them, he ruled over them as a just ruler, did war for upholding and saving God's Religion and the protection of Islamic State and the Community he established. He gathered and trained a well organized people (Sahabis or Companions of the Prophet) who were ever ready to perform any difficult act, at the sign of the Prophet. He preached to non muslims who were Christians, Jews, Idol Worshippers. He taught and practiced how to look after the down trodden, weaker sections of the society, women and children. He was magnanimous to the enemies and friends alike. He showed to us what is the real diplomacy, politics and worship of God. Any muslim leader of today must not lose contact with what he did. Any leader of Islamic Organization can't be a True leader of muslims if he does not fall in line with the life style of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and do as what he did and said. None can surpass him in any good values other than try to follow him.
What is the Punishment ordered by God for who fight against Him and His Prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him)?
God Almighty Allah Has Decreed : "The Punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is : execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: That is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter; Except for those how repent before they fall into your power: In that case, know that Allah is oft-forgiving, Most Merciful."
(Ch.5: Verses: 33-34).Now being a Muslim what you and we can do is : Try to find out what Islam says and Prophet Muhammad did : Spiritually, Politically and in other fields of life and analyze what our muslim community and organizations are doing today? Take up the case of each and every muslim organization in your area and analyze their ideology and activities with the criteria set by God and His Prophet and try to find out where they match and where they don't, with this standard criteria of Islam. Tell them the Truth without any prejudice, if you see any imbalance or lacunae in their activities or ways of thinking, in a good and effective way and try to save the followers of Muhammad (if you love him) from mismanaging the religion he has brought and the misguidance Satan can cause to his followers.
