Muhammad was chosen by God Almighty Allah to be His Last Prophet when he was 40 years old, at about 610 C.E. (A.D).  God did not send any Prophet or a Messenger in between Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) and Final Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The Arabs and the whole world were steeped in terrible and hopeless darkness of superstitions, ignorance and ungodliness.  Satan had his hay day.  There was none to care for and lead mankind to salvation and success among mankind.  The Time was ripe for the arrival of the Final Prophet Muhammad (S) whose forecast and the signs were given in the Holy Torah and Holy Gospel  to the Jewish Tribes, long before Muhammad's arrival. In the Holy Scriptures of Hindu and Parsi community also the signs are clearly given.

But when he came, those who were commanded to support him by their own scriptures were overcome by their own lusts, stubbornness and jealousy, except a few among them,  who believed at the initial stages of his mission! The Makkans were pagan- idol worshippers who had fixed 360 idols inside the Holy Kaba which was built by Prophet Ibrahim and his son Prophet Ismael (peace be upon them), about 4,000 years before in Makkah (ancient name: Bakkah) for the worship of One Real Master and God Allah.  Prophet Ibrahim or Abraham is believed and revered by Muslims, Christians and Jewish people. Prophet Muhammad is the Descendant of Prophet Ibrahim Khalilullah (the friend of Allah) through His son Ismael.       Back to Top

Since receiving God's Revelation (message of Holy Qur'an) and command to proclaim it to the public, Prophet Muhammad left no stones unturned to bring people towards the Light of God. But mostly his call fell on deaf ears and his sincere efforts were met with fierce resistance. The pagans of Makkah and the surrounding areas, made him the target of their insult inflicted severe and different kinds of persecutions against Prophet Muhammad and his few followers (may Allah be pleased with them), who were defenseless.  For thirteen years in Makkah they patiently persevered with all the difficulties.  But after migrating to Madina (about 400 Kms distance from Makkah city), they were able to defend themselves as they had now their own military and a state- Governed by God's Laws where none was a slave of other humans or material things. Only God was the Master and all others were considered as His slaves.  All believers upheld the truth of one single brotherhood and everybody was involved in the collective struggle for the supremacy of God's words (Holy Qur-an) and His Laws and Guidance -'Al Islam' under the Noble and Unparalleled Leadership of Final Prophet of God, Syedina Mohammad (peace be upon him).                       Back to Top

Now normal life had become unbearable for followers of Holy Prophet Muhammad in Makkah.  He then allowed some Muslims to migrate to Abyssinia (Now,  Ethiopia in Africa) where a true believer of  Jesus, the last-but-one Prophet of God Almighty Allah and  Holy Gospel was the ruler at that time.  It would be appropriate to add an important note here that the title Christian should be taken as one who believed in Jesus and his true position and mission;  who belonged to Jesus and followed His True Mission and commands which if cuts across the words and commands of a person, the words and commands of Jesus will be upheld and not the other way round. He or she is considered as  a Muslim only and remain so, until and unless he or she deviated from the True path shown by Moses and Jesus and other thousands of Prophets sent by God Almighty Allah to Jewish tribes to teach them Islamic way of beliefs and life (peace be upon them all).  
Those who follow the true words of God and His Prophets without twisting or manipulating them are none other than Muslims. But once they come to know about the truthfulness of Final Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), they must have to believe in him as it is,  for their salvation. Then what is the name they can give to the believers in One True God? Hindu, Buddhist, Animist, Pagan, Idolater, Communist, Marxist or what? God calls His True Slaves as <The One Who has Surrendered to His Will or a 'Muslim'> And when the Truth is brought to their notice they don't reject it.  God guides them on His Path because they love Him and His Words and they really and ardently wish to follow God Almighty Allah, liberating themselves from the false propaganda of the misled.  They accept the Will of God in all aspects of Life.  They strictly and strongly reject  imposition of man made isms on them regarding God Almighty Allah and The Truth He has sent for mankind. They fear for their safety from Allah's wrath and terrible punishments.  So they don't allow others to impose on them their slavery in place of Allah's, by rejecting Allah's words and accepting such words and commands which are clearly in violation of the commands of God and His Prophet Muhammad.  This is the property, essential character and sign of a True Believer of God and His Prophets, viz, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad and other previous Prophets. Gold has its purity and certain characteristics.  Diamond has its own purity and definite properties which are distinguishable from Gold and other metals and stones.  A believer of One and the Only True God Allah stands out among all people.

Such persons always live like  true slaves of God.  They never take the Holy Laws of God into their own hands and try to play with them and then act like the Master. Then it is no wonder, today, we can see thousands of Westerners and Japanese returning to their Creator's Religion (Al-Islam) even though some people are propagating falsehood against Islam, because they are far off from it as of now.  Once they come near this and flavor the 'smell' of Islam, they will oppose those who do such evil acts-Allah willing (Insha Allah)!

Now to the Main Topic:  The First Hijrah in the History of Islam took place in 615 A.D., the fifth year of Final Prophet Muhammad's Mission.

Some fifteen of the early Reverters to Islam (among them some women too) sailed to Abyssinia.  They were very kindly received and treated by the King Negus.  Soon others also followed and number of muslim emigrants reached to 83 men and 18 women.

The hostility of the Quraish-The main opponents of Islam and Prophet's Mission- grew even more and they became furious at this new development.  They sent a delegation to the King Negus with valuable gifts so that the poor fugitives could be taken back and put to death for deserting their old pagan religion. The King summoned the poor and helpless Muslim fugitives to his court to enquire the truth of this case.  Ja'far, son of Abu Talib (Prophet Muhammad's Uncle), brother of Ali, came forward as the spokesman of Muslims.                                               Back to Top

He spoke thus : "O King, we were plunged in the depth of ignorance and barbarism, we adored idols, we led an unchaste life, we ate dead bodies and we spoke abominations, we disregarded every feeling of humanity and sense of duty towards our neighbors and we knew no law but that of the strong. Allah raised among us a man, whose birth, truthfulness, honesty and purity we were well aware of.   He called us to profess the Unity of Allah (The Oneness of God) and taught us to associate nothing with Him.  He forbade us the worship of idols and enjoined to speak the truth, to be faithful to our trusts, to be merciful and to regard the rights of neighbors;  he forbade us from the worship of idols of wood and stone and to abstain from evil.  He commanded us to offer prayers, to give alms (to the poor and the needy) and to observe the fasting.  We have believed in him, we have accepted his teachings and his injunctions to worship Allah alone and to associate nothing with Him.  Hence our people have persecuted us, trying to force us to abandon the worship of Allah and to return to the worship of idols of wood and stone..... They have tortured us and injured us until we came to your kingdom seeking protection against their persecution."

Ja'far recites verses of the Holy Qur'an :

Then upon the demand of the King, Ja'far recited the verses of Chapter Maryam (Mary) of the Holy Qur-an. Upon hearing them, he burst into tears (it was the sign of his confirmation of the words of Holy Qur-an). 

This made such a good impression on the king that he realized the wicked plan of the delegation of the pagans who had come to mislead him and punish the poor muslim fugitives. He sent back the pagan delegation of Makkah empty handed.  He let muslim fugitives to live in his country safely and with dignity.  This is how true believers of Prophet Jesus confirmed their faith in Allah and Jesus by obeying Allah's command that when Muhammad came, they must believe in him and support him.  But those Christians and Jews who have been doing otherwise must think now and see to the fact that whether they are serious about their faith in God and Jesus or not? Whether they want to uphold the words of Holy Qur-an and support Prophet Muhammad's mission or not?  Now or never!
